Upgrading from 2.3.8, I got:

Disable the forum
Forum is now disabled
Check if SQL permissions to perform the upgrade are avaliable
Beginning the file upgrade process
Begining to decompress the archive
Finished decompressing the archive
File Upgrade Complete
Any changed files were backed up to: "/var/www/forum/errors/.backup/"

Fetch SQL archive
SQL archive is now avaliable
Beginning SQL Upgrades
SQL Upgrades Complete
Creating Avatar Cache

I work with wayne.

Yes we are using a custom theme. But why would that even matter? Can you not update if you have custom themes?

It should work fine, but I am just trying to isolate the problem for the moment. Could you please do the following inside the default/tmpl/ directory run the following command:

ls -lr --sort=time and reply with the output.

Move all the files dates Apr 8 into a seperate (backup directory) and then re-run the upgrade script.

The upgrade script ran fine as did the two consistency checks.

But now I can;t log out:

Parse error: parse error in /var/www/html/forum/theme/default/login.php on line 635

There is an unescaped ' in the word "you're" on line 635 of login.php.

Do you have a php cgi or a php cli binary?

If so run the following command inside /var/www/html/forum/theme/default/

ls -1 --color=no | xargs -n1 php -l

It should find all the files with parse errors.
Please attach all files with parse errors to your reply.

All the lines said this:

No syntax errors detected in <filename>

So it appears that only login.php had a parse error and I'd already fixed it.

Check the group permissions to make sure that they are set correctly?

Did you have a set of users who had access to these forums or was it blocking of all anon users?

There were 3 forums that could only be seen by one user group. Now those 3 'private' forums are visible to anonymous users too. We didnt change any permissions or groups

Check the permissions of the group controlling the access rights to that forum. I suspect something may have caused them to be rest.

I just ran my upgrade, and I got this error:

Rebuilding user levels, message counts & last post ids
(consist.php) 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'WHERE id=2' at line 1
Query: UPDATE fud25_users SET u_last_post_id=18, posted_msg_count=10,level_id= WHERE id=2
Server Version: 3.23.53-log

I reran the Forum Consistancy app from the admin page and got the same result. Any suggestions? It no longer gives me the option to run the SQL tool.

Replace your consist.php with the one at this URL:
http://cvs.prohost.org/c/index.cgi/FUDforum/getfile?v=1.50&f=install/ww w_root/adm/consist.php

Once that is done, re-run the cosnsitency checker.
