Everything six months I purge topics that have not had active dicussion for six months. However, I am not sure if the topic pruning will remove stick topics that have not had active discussion for six months. I do not want it to remove the topics that are sticky. So, does the topic pruner remove sticky topics if it meets the activity requirements or does it leave them alone?

Topic prunning will remove topics by date, nothing else is considered. If you want to make sure sticky topics remain, make a reply in them before running topic prunning.

I feared that would be the case. Don't you think it should leave sticky topics? More often than not they are marked sticky because they are important information.

Why not? It should be just a simple "AND thread_opt!='4'" added to the SQL statement. I think that it is functionality many would expect to be present and would be quite surprised to find that it is not.

I gave the matter some thought and while it appears that the original reason was performance tests show this is not the case any longer. I've made the code skip over the announcement/sticky topics during message and attachment prunning.
