Hi,

I have tried to installed the forum on the windows machine, and got the following error.

Warning: gzuncompress() [function.gzuncompress]: buffer error in d:\webs\FUDforum_zl_2-7-3\FUDforum2\install.php on line 547
Failed decompressing the archive

I looked here around for a few days, and saw that someone increased the php script memeory limit which fixed the problem. So I increased my memory limit for php script to 50M instead of the default 8M. But it does not work.

I have also MD5 checksum the download, it matches the original files. I don't think the data is corrupted, and since I trying to install locally, there is no issue of ascii transfer mode that spoils the data.

So anyone have an idea what has happened?

Thanks a lot

Have you tried installing the non-compressed version? It is possible there maybe a bug with gzip handling on win XP.

I downloaded the uncompressed file, and it went ahead during installation. However, I get the following error:

CGI / FastCGI has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

And when I clicked the details of the problem, it said:

Error Signature:
szAppName : php-cgi.exe szAppVer : 5.1.1.1 szModName : php5ts.dll
szModVer : 5.1.1.1 offset : 000d4204

Is anything wrong with my php_cgi.exe?

Thanks for the insight Ilias.

That looks like a PHP crash, have you tried checking PHP error log to see if there are any problem found in it?

I checked the apache error log, and the following line appears:

[Wed Dec 07 17:41:48 2005] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Premature end of script headers: php-cgi.exe, referer: http://localhost/FUDforum2/install.php

[Wed Dec 07 17:42:10 2005] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Premature end of script headers: php-cgi.exe, referer: http://localhost/FUDforum2/install.php
[Wed Dec 07 17:45:59 2005] [warn] (OS 121)The semaphore timeout period has expired. : winnt_accept: Asynchronous AcceptEx failed.
[Wed Dec 07 17:48:51 2005] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Premature end of script headers: php-cgi.exe, referer: http://localhost/FUDforum2/install.php

And where is the php error located at? Or they use the same error log as apache error log?

It seemed like php premature crash. Anything wrong with the machine set up?

Thanks

Debugging PHP on win32 is a bit hard... the best I can recommend is trying a newer version of PHP from http://snaps.php.net/
