Ilia, I hope you will have a look at the moving of single messages feature before the release.

By the way, the titel of the announcement is wrong, you have released 2.7.7RC2.

The move messages is already part of the release, RC2 has this feature.

I was referring to the problems I described in this post. I can reproduce them with latest CVS version of FUDforum. You said that you will have a look at them, but I have worries that the problems will make into the final release.

I installed FUDforum 2.7.7RC1.in April, and had a few difficulties with it, mostly with making the upgrade.

I am still a newbie at all this, but am game to try so if there are any of you who would be willing to assist or offer advise I am more than willing to accept.

I will soon be upgrading to the newer version FUDforum 2.7.7RC2, and see how that works out.

I am new to this so explain things very, very carefully!

This feature will be very useful for my little forum (Ilia, thanks for the FUDforum!!):

"Added functionality that allows movement of messages from one thread to another."

Is there roughly estimated 2.7.7 release plan? If it isn't the case - is it safe to update 2.7.6 to 2.7.7RC2 for non-data-critical little forum? I'll be happy with any non-formal advice Smile

2.7.7RC2 looks to be fairly stable, so it should be a safe upgrade path. If you can wait another week, 2.7.7 will be out by then.

Ilia,

Aha, I see thanks! The thing is, because of my system administrator mistake, files' attributes of forum's files were accidentally (recursively) changed. To cure the issue I have upgraded the forum with RC2 - all works fine (thanks again! Smile ). But if to be a pedant - does upgrade procedure set all forum's files attributes in appropriate way?

The upgrade process generally does not touch the file permissions, unless making new files.

After installing 2.7.7RC2, with the aim to make mnav.php working, I have renamed function 'u(...)' with 'uq(...)' at mnav.php:377 line.

What error were you getting before the rename? q() should definitely work there.

The error says about undefined function u() at this line.

Ilia,

I have disabled "Search" permission for anonymous users (user land groups, "Anonymous" users), then tried it (via another browser) - searching is still enabled. It is for 2.7.7RC2.

Are you referring to the "Search" link or the search results?

I use Russian (Cp1251) templates. The ref is on the left hand from the F.A.Q. ref on the page top. The link exists for anonymous users, search dialog works, search result list appears. I.e. all is for logged in user.

Probably, it isn't a bug, rather feature Smile It seems like "Most users ever online was.." value is calculated regardless is a user logged in, or no. In such situation this value may be larger rather registered users amount (some search spiders are rather aggressive). Probably, it is worth to count (or add such admin option) registered users only.

The search link will always appear (you can only hide it by disabling searching for anon users via admin control panel). The search results however are controlled via group permissions system and will only show results from the forums the user has access to.

I have tried ("Global Anonymous Access" table string has 'N' in the "Can search" column), but search link on the page top still exists for anon users.

Are you using the admin group manager or the one linked from the front page? You need to be using the latter.

That's the admin one, it controls what permissions can be set in the group, it does not control the actual permissions. You need to use the group manager linked from the forum's front page.

The thing is, I have disabled searching via "the group manager linked from the forum's front page" firstly. Now, both in admin panel and here - index.php?t=groupmgr& - everywhere searching is disabled for anon users. But searching for anon users still works.

For 2.7.7RC2. While moving messages to another thread have got the message shown below (yet once only among few moving):

(/hosting/clients/anli.info/httpd/forum/index.php:74
/hosting/clients/anli.info/httpd/forum/index.php:134
/hosting/clients/anli.info/httpd/forum/theme/Grey/movemsg.php:2367
/hosting/clients/anli.info/httpd/forum/index.php:1192
) 1146: Table 'anli_info.fud__tv_24' doesn't exist
Query: SELECT t.last_post_id FROM fud__tv_24 v INNER JOIN fud_thread t ON t.id=v.thread_id WHERE seq=1
_GET: array ( 't' => 'movemsg', )
_POST: array ( 'SQ' => 'f3f30a781d2f2d56b59d170c8ca33f7c', 'th' => '29', 'dest_th' => '40', 'msg_ids' => array ( 0 => '285', ), 'btn_selected' => 'Move Selected Messages', )
Server Version: 4.1.22-log
[Referring Page] http://forum.anli.info/index.php?t=movemsg&th=29

Nevertheless, a message was moved, consistency checker said nothing sad Smile

Thanks!
What is correct way to apply the patch against running forum? Is it sufficient to download/edit/upload (using File Manager) src/movemsg.php.t file and regenerate all themes?

yes, you can download latest version of the file from the CVS, replace the one you have with it and rebuild the theme.

Have tried to allow PDF-generation. Cp1251 is in use. It seems like PDF generation doesn't support locales - PDF output contains abracadabra.

You may need to set a font inside the PDF.php that support cp1251
