1. enable Private Messaging
2. PM yourself a link from within the forum. here is the specific link that makes me login:

3. click the link
4. scratch head

Well, a link with an old session id will definitely log you out.

Set "Enable URL sessions" to "No" in the Admin Control Panel.

set "Enable URL sessions" to "No" in the Admin Control Panel = cant log in to the forum

all users were locked out

thought i needed to change a value called SESSION_USE_URL

turns out i needed to change
$FUD_OPT_1
by adding 128

ugh. can log in now, still have original issue

I don't think your forum is in a healthy state. I was able to change the setting via the GUI without editing any file.

Anyway, A url with invalid session will always log you out. That is expected behaviour. Changing the parameter will tell FUDforum to show URL's without sessions (where it can). So, next time you copy a URL, it will hopefully not log you out.
