For those of us who aren't Unix geeks, what does the following mean please ?

Securing directory with .htaccess

Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all

It says:

Line 1: "Deny access before you grant access."
Line 2: "However, deny access to everybody."

Apache will block all attempts to access content in the folder (/ = root) and its subdirectories.

Thank you.

I obviously wasn't clear enough with my question. I wanted to better understand what "Securing directory with .htaccess" means.

(1) Does that mean create a text file called .htaccess, with the mentioned info, and put it in the forum's data files directory ?

(2) Also, can one reply to messages in FUD and quote the previous message ? I don't seem to see a way here to do that.

You don't have to bother, FUDforum will create some '.htaccess' files for you during installation. Just in case you put the data files in a web accessible directory. Which, of cause, you should never do!

Just click on the "Quote" instead of "Reply" button or use the relevant QUOTE BBcode tags.
