What Drupal permissions should the new Drupal "forum user" and "forum moderator" roles have?

There is no right or wrong answer. It depends on what you want those people to do on your Drupal installation. For example, you could allow "forum users" to post articles & comments and "forum moderators" to approve & delete them.

Thanks. For the moment, I'm interested in single sign on, and synching account profile changes. I assume that the "forum moderator" role needs "administer users" permission, and "forum user" should essentially match Drupal "authenticated user" permissions?
