I thought my implementation of the FUDforum might be interesting to see for others, so here it is: http://valour.dar-clan.de
Some of the things worth mentioning:
- The entire webpage is based on FUDforum
- All pages are built using the templating system which makes it easy to develop changes offline and then bring them online in a matter of seconds
- The use of FUDforum for the entire page eleminates the need for an external login and session management: one login for the page and the forums alike
- Modified the forums and took out everything my users don't need - KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) being the keyword
- Stickies and announcements are shown by using a different background for the row instead of a 'sticky:' or 'announcement:' text
- Posts have the more common left-right split layout (aka 2.5.x layout)
- ...lots of minor changes to the layout/function of the forum like the navigation bar that also shows when posting, display of the member groups that a member belongs to (in contrast to the custom titles the admin would have to set by hand), etc...
