As it is, the icon next to each forum name will be different if there are new posts since the forum has been visited. It seems to me like it would be better for it to stay lit as long as there are unread topics. This would be even better if there were a "mark all posts read" link at the top within each forum.

You have mark all read on a per-forum basis, to mark a topic read, just go to the last message.
