I recently created a brand new webserver using FC4. Here's a link to my PHP info:

http://69.76.206.181/info.php

I'm attempting to install a brand new installation of FUDForum2 2.7.2 specifically. When I run install.php (after I've chmod 777 the pertinent folders and files), the second screen tells me:

Failed getting archive size from

Any suggestions?

Thanks and have a great day!

How big is install.php file? Did you upload it to the server in BINARY or ASCII (should be BINARY)?

I was logged into the server as root and downloaded the tar gzipped file from this site. I extracted it and copied it to the web root folder I created for FUDForum.

Thanks and have a great day!

The file is clearly too small, install.php should've been at least 1.4 megabytes, do you see forum_archive file in the install directory?

I compared the size of install.php to the one I downloaded and it was off by more than 1 MB. So I re-copied install.php to web root, reset the permissions and re-ran install.php.

I got this error instead:

Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /var/www/html/fudforum2/install.php on line 436

Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: File exists in /var/www/html/fudforum2/install.php on line 436
ERROR: failed creating /usr/local/share/fudforum2/cache directory

Here is the listing from web root:

total 1.4M
-rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 1.4M Sep 20 09:04 install.php

Thanks and have a great day!

I keep having to re-chmod the web root folder fudforum2 after I run (and fail) install.php.

Here is a before and after listing:

ls -lhtr
total 56K
drwxr-xr-x 6 apache apache 4.0K Aug 31 22:03 phpMyAdmin
-rw-r--r-- 1 apache apache 95 Sep 1 08:43 info.php

drwxr-xr-x 2 apache apache 4.0K Sep 1 09:24 mossfam
drwxr-xr-x 3 apache apache 4.0K Sep 1 09:24 raya
drwxr-xr-x 4 apache apache 4.0K Sep 3 13:45 derek
drwxrwxrwx 2 apache apache 4.0K Sep 20 08:41 fudforum2
[root@mossweb html]# ls -lhtr
total 56K
drwxr-xr-x 6 apache apache 4.0K Aug 31 22:03 phpMyAdmin
-rw-r--r-- 1 apache apache 95 Sep 1 08:43 info.php
drwxr-xr-x 6 apache apache 4.0K Sep 1 09:22 phpwebalbum
drwxr-xr-x 2 apache apache 4.0K Sep 1 09:24 mossfam
drwxr-xr-x 3 apache apache 4.0K Sep 1 09:24 raya
drwxr-xr-x 4 apache apache 4.0K Sep 3 13:45 derek
drwx--x--x 2 apache apache 4.0K Sep 20 08:41 fudforum2

Is this being caused by Apache? or SELinux?

Thanks and have a great day!

Try to remove the directory entirely and install the forum to a new directory.

I deleted the fudforum2 folder from /var/www/html/
I deleted the fudforum2 folder from /usr/local/share/

I created a new fudforum folder under /var/www/html/
I created a new fudforum folder under /usr/local/share/

I chgrp and chown on /var/www/html/fudforum to apache
I chmod both /var/www/html/fudforum and /usr/local/share/fudforum to 777

I re-ran install.php and got this error:

Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /var/www/html/fudforum/install.php on line 436

Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: File exists in /var/www/html/fudforum/install.php on line 436
ERROR: failed creating /usr/local/share/fudforum/cache directory

And the permission for /var/www/html/fudforum have again been reset:

drwx--x--x 2 apache apache 4.0K Sep 20 10:05 fudforum

Thanks and have a great day!

Can you modify the __mkdir() function inside install.php and make it print to screen the value of the $dir variable everytime it runs?

I disabled (or actually told it to not enforce) SELinux and then I was able to install.

Thanks and have a great day!
