This question from a user:

If I write the following text:
Quote Text
I get
Quote Title

Quote Text

If I write the following text:
Quote Text
I get
Quote Title

Quote Text

There appears to always be a default blank line, not just a new line, at the beginning of the quote.

Should, could, this be changed?

The blank line is actually intentional, however it is something that is controlled via templates. This means to remove it you simply need to edit the post_html_quote_start_p2 section inside post_proc.tmpl

Thanks for the tip. I will most definitely remove that line - it would look much much better.

We've setup a poll - 80% of users voted "I do NOT want a leading blank line in quoted text", while 20% said they don't care.

I would very much like to know if this sentiment is shared by other FUDForum users as well?

Any chance of getting this implemented in the next FUDforum release?

you can do it yourself by editing the post_proc.tmpl template and removing the <br> from the post_html_quote_start_p2 tag. I am going to make it part of the next release.

Great - thank you very much. One less customization for me to make!

We at aspies.de are making a test of FUDforum against phpBB3 and came across the same issue. It really looks better without the blank line. I would change the template for now. Thanks.

I've also edited my post_proc.tmpl to get rid of this leading blank line. But it still appears.
So I made a simple Full-Text search for <td class="quote"><br /> and found this code in many files. I'm somewhat confused.
What should I do. Remove the <br /> in about 30 Files?

I'm running v 2.7.6

regards in advance

I've just tried a fresh 2.8.0 install and see that the blank line has disappeared by default.
It looks loke there were some changes to the File/Directory Structure. I can't see any post_proc.tmpl! Is this correct?
Maybe I should try an update and see what happens ...

Yes, the blank line has been removed in version 2.8.0.

You should still find the file post_proc.tmpl in thm/default/tmpl/ within the Forum Data Root. In case you would like to make the change on your installation of version 2.7.7 it should be enough to remove the <br /> from the post_html_quote_start_p2 section in the mentioned file. Afterwards rebuild the theme using the Theme Manager in the Admin Control Panel.
