Is there a way to disable the editing of ones own posts?

Maybe a way to do it is by adding another permission for "Edit Own". Would that be terribly difficult?

Yes, simply set the allowable edit time to 1 second in the admin control panel.

This option seems to affect users with the edit permission as well. Perhaps users with the edit permission should be excepted?

Edit permission allows people to edit ANY message, not just their own. This is something completely different from being able to edit own messages.

Okay, then this option seems to be hindering people with the edit permission as well. This is a bug, yes? I tried it with a test user. They get the "you can no longer edit this post" (or whatever it says) message.
