I found out the hard way that if my db password contained a '\' character, it was escaped before it was written to GLOBALS.php.

This broke the forums and the admin section since they couldnt connect to the db...

Obviously the easy workaround is to avoid characters that need escaping in the db password!

Hope this helps somebody else avoid this issue!
