FUDforum 2.8.1 RC1 was released and is now available for download. Thank you very much to everyone who made this release possible: Ilia for tagging and releasing the code, Peter Vendike for the Danish translation and JanRei and Marticus for the numerous usability and validation patches.

New features:

* Ability to bookmark topics. See list of bookmarks in the User Control Panel.
* Introduce support for plugins (see Plugin Manager in the Admin Control Panel)
* Better UTF-8 support (case and accent insensitive searching)
* Add an external forum redirect feature
* More avatar images
* Ability to Minimize/Maximize posts in the Message Selector
* Move JavaScript to lib.js for faster page loading
* Add welcome message (new installations only)
* Introduce Forum Dashboard and remove install.php checks from mainstream code
* Add a SQL Manager to the Admin Control Panel
* Log message approval
* Various other Admin Control Panel enhancements

Fixes:

* Various usability and validation fixes (Marticus & JanRei)
* Convert FAQ help files to UTF-8
* Fix date display on Windows systems
* Fix reverse html to [img] tag rendering
* Better server name for SMTP EHLO
* Prevent users from posting invisible links

Translation updates:

* Add new Danish translation (Peter Vendike)
* German translation updated (JanRei)
* Afrikaans translation updated
* Remove chinese_big5 translation (not UTF-8)
* Various other message file updates
