I hope one of you can come up with an idea. When I run the install.php I get a blank screen and nothing happens.

I'm not having access to the php.ini, so I can't change settings of detect_unicode to off as suggested in this forum. It would affect all users on the webhotel, so this is a no go.

Can I do something via phpMyAdmin?

My php is 5.0.26 on a linux server. I tried to run the script on both mozilla and explorer with the same result. The browser show a blank screen and report finish in downleft corner of the browser
window.
