I created a test page and there seemed to be an error. I'm just a beginner with php but I think I got the error fixed.
Here is the test page...

The link did not work so I changed this line...
echo "<a href=\"".$WWW_ROOT."msg.php?goto=".$obj->id."\& amp; quot;>".$obj->subject."</a><br>\n";

to this...
echo "<a href=\"".$WWW_ROOT."msg.php?goto=".$obj->id."\& quot;>".$obj->subject."</a><br>\n";

Now it seems to be working great. I have just one more question. I have a hidden forum for my moderators. When this code displays the last posts it also picks up any posts on my moderators board. Is there anyway I can prevent posts from a hidden forum from being displayed?
