The alias column was of the type "varchar(50) binary". I issued the command "ALTER TABLE fud25_users MODIFY alias varchar(50);", and it seems to have worked. Alias names are now search for case-insensitively, so that person A can't have alias "Test" and person B can't have alias "test" at the same time. Was this the correct way, and will it be undone if I run a fudforum upgrade/install script in the future?
