categories and forums disappeared for guests :( [message #11885]

Suddenly, when someone comes to our forums as a guest, only one of our forums shows up. Used to be that 12 of 15 showed up (the others require specific groups membership (beta testers)).

I have made some changes. but very minor.

1. a short lived change of base url from http to https (just a one character change to a file, then undone).

2. when doing #1, I accidentally put some trailing whitespace in a .inc file. Removed it so that things would work again.

If someone is logged in, everything works exactly as it should. Only guests are affected. Any ideas?

Check the permissions for all anonymous via the group manager linked to from the front page.

I work with wwalker and am also trying to figure this out. It seems that the anonymous user has disappeared from all but one of the forums (the visible one). And now I cant add it because there is no 'anonymous' user. Any ideas?

Do you have >1 group per forum in the group manager? What version of FUDforum are you running?

no, there is only one group for the registered users. The only one with >1 is the visible one. And that one has the anonymous group also.

We are running 2.3.8

Hmm.. wait a few days for 2.5.1 to come out and then upgrade, it should fix the problem by re-creating the needed accounts.
