This indeed appears to be a bug and will be addressed shortly.

Reading is also possible by clicking on the OK button of the dialog that appears if you try to login with your unconfirmed account (say with a fake email)...

Uncofirmed account will be deleted after X days specified in your config, by default that numbver 7. People with uncofirmed accounts should be able to login into the forum, they cannot post messages private or public or use the email system. The reason they should be able to login is so that they can change their setttings, for example fix an invalid email address.
