I upgraded from 2.3.6 to 2.5.2.

I have always had this off....
After the upgrade I can see the button and people are using tree-view!
Never ask a geek why, just nod your head and slowly back away.

Allow Tree View of Thread Listing - Disables topic threaded view ONLY.
You cannot disable the plain tree view of a topic (messages inside 1 topic).
You can however choose the default topic/message via the Default Topic View option.
