This release is a fairly small bug fix release, which does contain several important bug fixes. Hopefully it'll provide itself to be quite stable and the final release will soon follow.

Here are the changes:
  1. Fixed zlib check in the installer
  2. Fixed typo in installer/upgrade script for version check
  3. Make avatar size detection work in system with open_basedir
  4. Fixed a bug with avatar deletion
  5. Do not compress already compressed file attachments
  6. Better .htaccess detection for PHP versions < 4.3
  7. A few PostgreSQL related fixes.
  8. Fixed various PATH_INFO template bugs.
  9. Handle situations during upgrade of PostgreSQL forums when duplicate indexes exist.
  10. Updated French & Chinese translations
  11. Fixed bug with calculation of user levels
  12. Fixed extra space problem in message editor
  13. Added Invision Board -> FUDforum conversion script.

But... how can I download it?

In your new "pull down" system I only see links to the "change log" or to 2.5.2. Is something missing or am I right!? Embarassed

Best,

Cool Lopo

I just installed FUDforum 2.5.3RC1 a couple days ago and have been generally very well pleased with it. I see from other messages here that 2.5.3RC2 has not been released, in spite of the announcement. One of the features I was eager to try was importing from Invision Power Board, but I haven't been able to find the script to do it. Confused Some help, please???

My only complaint of FUDforum so far is the painful process of installing avatars one at a time. I've had a couple month's experience installing, configuring, and using both phpBB2 and Invision Power Board. Both are nice systems, but FUDforum appears to surpass them both in almost every regard. Thanks!

The conversion scripts are avaliable from FUDforum's download page.
(download link is at the top of this page).

Thanks. I've downloaded the script, installed in in our FUDforum's web directory (/home/httpd/html/fud/), and set the $IPB_CFG variable to /home/httpd/html/invboard/conf_global.php, which is where it is on our site. When I try to run www.dma.org/fud/ipb.php, I get the error "This script must be placed in FUDforum's main web directory." That apparently is from the lines:
        $gl = @include("./GLOBALS.php");
        if ($gl === FALSE) {
                exit("This script must be placed in FUDforum's main web directory.\n");

I've confirmed that ./GLOBALS.php does exist and is being read. I even tried removing the symbolic link to /home/httpd/FUDforum/include/GLOBALS.php and just copying that file to /home/httpd/html/fud/GLOBALS.php, but that made no difference. I've restored the symlink. Now what?

If it makes a difference, I disabled both FUDforum and Invision Power Boards before running the script. How do I re-enable FUDforum? I now get a blank screen when I visit www.dma.org/fud/ - no error message, and no login screen.
Confused

Have you unlocked the forum prior to running the conversion script?

No, I had not unlocked the forum since I was doing it via the web. According to my understanding of the instructions included with ipb.php, unlocking was only needed if running the conversion script from the shell. It turned out that the problem was that I had included double quotes in the off-line comment "$DISABLED_REASON" before I turned FUDforum off. As I had stated before "How do I re-enable FUDforum? I now get a blank screen when I visit www.dma.org/fud/ - no error message, and no login screen." Changing the double quotes to single quotes solved the problem. I was able to run ipb.php which imported the users and forums from our Invision Power Board forum (but not the messages in the forums), and I was subsequently able to login to our FUD forum. There was one error displayed when I ran the script. The script output was:
Importing blocked words
Done: Importing 0 blocked words
Importing forum members
Done: Importing 27 IPB members
Importing buddies/ignored users
Done: Importing 0 buddies and 0 ignored users
Importing member ranks
Done: Importing 2 member ranks
Importing categories
Done: Importing 4 categories
Importing forums
Done: Importing 18 forums
Importing permissions
(db.inc) 1054: Unknown column 'up_file' in 'where clause'
Query: SELECT id FROM fud25_groups WHERE forum_id=up_file
Server Version: 3.23.56

Can you suggest why it failed here and what I might be able to do to fix it? I'm rather a novice at both php and MySQL, but I can see that it should have continued to import administrators and the messages and topics from our IPB forum had it not encountered this error.

Thanks for your help.

no.

Does that mean 'no' as in 'not yet, but there will be', or 'no' as in 'no planned final release of 2.5.3, as we're jumping into 2.6.0rc1 versions now' ??

I have no plans to release 2.5.3, the next release will be 2.6.0RC1.
