How about having a greeting statement on the top of the page, e.g.

"Good morning, you are logged in as zerobits". Idea

Easy to implement, the only question is where to position such a text? Any ideas?

Top left or top right, and in bold. Easily readable. What do you think?

Let me try it out, I'll cook up a patch sometime tomorrow and post it here. If it looks good it may even go into 1.0.1 as an on/off option.
