the manual mentions about exiting templates ...
Quote:

generally intended for quick changes and/or fixes, if you intend to do a complete layout redesign
we recommend changing the templates (*.tmpl files inside the tmpl directory for each theme)
... i have created a new template and used that template in a new theme i have created; however i cant find a tmpl directory - the directories inside the "theme" directory are the directories corresponding to the names of the themes and templates i created alright but they only contain .php files and one .css file each

i did find .tmpl files in thm/default/tmpl and thm/pathinfo/tmpl however i wanted to edit the templates which i have just created, not the default, which i assume this is - ( not sure what pathinfo means though)

You can create a completely new template set via the theme manager and then create themes based on that new template set. The files you should edit are inside thm/[template set name]/tmpl and have .tmpl extension.

i have created 3 or 4 new templates using the theme manager; however the directory listing for the thm directory is:

default (dir)
path_info (dir)
.htaccess

there are no template set directories in there

You create a new theme, not a new template set.
To create a template set use "Create New Template Set" control.

Are you looking @ the "theme" or "thm" directory?

i was looking for these inside the main directory that i installed the forum in ... i didn't realise you meant inside of FUDforum
Confused

ok , minor problem --- i had created lots of test templates and themes while i was trying to sort out this problem - when i got it fixed, i used the theme manager to detlete the themes i didn't want, but the directories are still on the website, and i'd like to get them removed - can i do this automaticaly or would i have to remove them manualy, and is this even possible without screwing things up - i dont just want to go deleting directories .....

also there seems to be no way to delete templates at all, or am i missing something ???

so could you please tell me the best way to get rid of unused templates and themes from the website.

When you remove the theme, the theme's files are removed. However, the template set always remains. If you want to remove it, unlock the forum's files and remove the template set directory (it'll be with the same name as template set) from the thm/ directory.

what about the directories and files that are contained within the directory in which i installed the forum? .... in the "theme" directory - i have 5 sub-directories, one is named default and 4 others are named the sames as 4 templates i had created - yet only one of those is an actual template as ive deleted the others - can i just delete these directories ?( except for default and the one i want to keep )

thanks
