i have noiced the following behaviour on

  • NN7.1
  • IE6.0
  • opera7.11


if i attempt to login and check the use cookies box then the forum wont allow me in and rerouts me back to the home page. however if i login without the checkbox then i get in just fine.
if then i logout and back in again this time checking the box i am allowed to login with cookies and i can shut the browser down and when i reopen it i am still logged in
however if i disconect from my dialup then the origional problem persists

the problem is worse in opera when set to identify as opera as i get routed to the login page ever now and again also where an error message declares i have the wrong login and password combination ( I DIDNT Mad )

hopefully there is a fix for this Very Happy

i uploaded the file and rebuilt the theme - but the problem persists with no change Confused

I can replicate the problem on your forum, I am currently trying to see if I can isolate it to some piece of code. Unfortunately I am unable to replicate the problem on any forum other then yours...

(maybe due to the fact CGI API is used)

Ok I found the problem have fixed it...

I'll soon make an upgrade script that will fix it.

ahem - i actually cant login to the forum AT ALL now -i had noticed this about an hour ago but as i saw you were logged in i thought it had to do with that

i will upgrade with this script as soon as you have it --

i presume you'll post here when you have it and that it wont be too long

in the meantime i think i will reinstall the forum as i still cant get in ( and was experiencing problems getting in through the /adm/ login even before this problem ) -- also as there was a double install originaly i will take this op to delete every trace of the forum from the site so that i am starting with a clean slate .

the reinstall (combined with the new cookies.inc.t) file seems to have fixed the problems ??? Shocked

i have a new problem with this - now i can log in with cookies and the browser keeps me logged in even if i shut it down and restart it
but the problem is that it logs me out if i refresh the page
i do not understand this behaviour -- perhaps it is the same problem you said you found and would fix
so what is the latest on the update as i think i'll be needing it?

well i've updated to RC7 just now and i've tried it out for half an hour - logging in and out of various browsers and going on and off line etc and i didn't find a flaw in the login/cookie system.
