Hi,
I've downloaded FUDforum_2-5-2.tar.bz2 into website work folder on my PC. Chapter 3 Installation advises having php binary installed on the 'system' to generate the install.php file.

Other advice (chit chat) was then to upload the install.php make a directory where I want to install the forum chmod it 777, then run install.php via the web browser.

I'm working on my home PC (Windows XP) - do I need PC-based Unix to (1) generate install.php and (2) do the upload and other Unix steps? Forum destination is my ISPs server. I'm a bit lost here Sad

Thanks,
Rob

That step is ONLY needed if you are generating the install script from CVS. The install script you've downloaded is ready for execution as is.

Hi,
So the install.php script is in the .tar file I downloaded?

If so, how exactly do I use your browser to access the install.php file --> to reach the install wizard? -- (1) place the .tar file in my website work directory (Windows folder (2) open the file via my browser (File/Open .. but file does not open ?

Thanks,
Rob

install.php is inside the archive you've downloaded you now need to decompress it.
