Hi,

FUDforum 2.8.0 Release Candidate 2 was just released. Here are the changes since the previous RC1 release:

1. Default themes now have lightweight HTML page headers showing your forum's title with a search box (in the theme's language). This will help users to use FUDforum out-of-the-box without having to first integrate it into their sites.

2. The upgrade script was restyled and converted to XHTML. A bug was also fixed which caused MySQL upgrades to take much longer than necessary.

3. Include first body with thread syndication. This was mainly done to enable other sites to pull FUDforum's announcements, but I'm sure other sites will find it useful as well.

4. The message compactor can now convert between character sets. This will enable non-English sites to migrate their messages to UTF-8.

5. The Russian and Afrikaans messages were updated and several other small and cosmetic changes were made. See the change log for the glory details.

If everything goes according to plan, we should have an exciting and stable 2.8.0 release ready in a week's time.

Wow. That is unusually fast. Is that enough time to get the feedback needed to ensure its stability? The other RCs had months of testing before going production.

I'm very pleased you are working with Ilia to keep FUD moving forward and the new features look quite detailed for such a short time, obviously there was some stuff in the hopper! Very Happy
