Just thinking - isn't 3.0.4 (due out soon-ish) a bit early to deprecate versions of PHP prior to 5.3?

I have no idea when my hosting provider will upgrade past 5.2 - they're currently using 5.2.17. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. If you require 5.3 or greater, at a time when a lot of providers aren't - um - providing 5.3 yet, don't you stand the chance of locking out a lot of your users from upgrading to 3.0.4?

Maybe before deciding this you should make a poll or something. I would, but it seems a bit presumptuous to me, for such a relative noob to be putting up polls asking whether or not FUD should continue to support php 5.2.x...

I realize the wiki page on 3.0.4 only says it's being considered. Consider this my "please don't yet" vote.

OK, we'll do one more release for PHP 5.2+, but all subsequent releases will have to be 5.3+ only.
