I've really liked what I've seen of FUDforum so far. In fact, while I was origionally going to use phpBB2 at work, I am now inclined to move to Ff. However, I have one issue right now that I haven't managed to figure out.

I have a public forum for unregistered (anonymous) users. Its mostly there just to give out "who we are" and contact info. The initial announcement post has been made using my own account.

The problem is, an unregistered user can now click on the poster's name then click on the "Show all messages by" link and get an idea of what I've been posting - even if they don't have access to the various areas and messages themselves.

Is there any direct way of disabling this? Or should I resort to posting "welcome" messages in the public forum with an account designed for this purpose?

Thanks in advance for any help - and thanks for the great work.

Since you're in an RC mode, I assume 2.6.0 is Real Close to being released? Or more directly - just how stable have the RC's been proving to be? I'd be willing to dance closer to the bleeding edge if my coworkers aren't liable to flog me for loss of data. Smile

Errr. I meant 2.6.1 Is it cheating to go and just edit my reply and pretend I had the version number correct all along? Smile

Thanks. I'll look at upgrading then.

As it stands now, someone not even registered or authorized can browse profiles and see a complete list of topic titles. Do I need to reset something or install a new version to clear this up?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Can I install 2.6.1 over 2.6.0 - - which I am using currently - - or do I have to import the data onto the upgrade?

Thank you, again, for the fast reply and help

Smile

You can use the upgrade script to upgrade from 2.6.0 to 2.6.1

I just installed 2.6.1 final. Guests can still view the member-list and show all messages of a member.

You need to set an option to disable this functionality.

Which option do you mean? There's an option for the profil. This works. Guests can't see the profil of registered users. And there is an option for the member-search. But I think, when i disable this, also registered users can't see the member-list.

Is it, that I can't disable the member-search for anonymous?

There is a "Member Search" that can allow you to specify who can search through member list.
