We have in our 2.6.0 installation some non-public forums, which are set 'visible=yes' but 'read=no' for 'registered users' and are only accessible via a group.
If we now distribute a URL to a forum or posting like
http://xxx/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=12
http://xxx/index.php?t=rview&goto=243
by email or otherwise and a user references this URL without prior login to the forum, (s)he will only get a dialog with the message

Even though this is technical correct, it is highly inconvenient. At this place one would like to have a dialog stating that a login is required, giving the option to actually login, and if done so properly, display the page refered to by the URL entered initially.
A flat denial type error should imho only used when a user is already logged in and tries something beyond his/her credentials.
