What is an active general web design group? The ones I am seeing
haven't been used in years.

I was wanting to ask how to go about making a website cell phone
friendly...

Thanks
Mike

You could try alt.html - a general group for all things about web page
design.

BTW, are you really Charles Newman of New York City, who owns please.com
or do you work for him? If so, okay; if not, please don't abuse his
domain name. I suggest "no(at)example(dot)invalid" instead.

Better yet - use example.com, example.org, etc. - which are specifically
reserved for such use.

Better yet - use example.invalid - so no self-respecting email server
will even attempt to send out a mail as they would with the .com/net/org.
I thought you knew.

Not any more. With the new rules put in place by ICANN (last year?
year before? They go by so fast...), 'invalid' can be a valid TLD.

Of course it is a valid TLD, for much longer than "last year." Reread
what I wrote: "no self-respecting email server will even attempt to send
out a mail" to an ".invalid" TLD as they will with the .com/net/org you
recommend. By using "example.invalid" you help to prevent the clogging of
the pipes by Usenet spam harvesters.

".invalid" is also reserved, and if the poster didn't want to provide an
example of an email address, but actually wants an invalid address, it's
the right choice:

From http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2606 :
".invalid" is intended for use in online construction of domain names
that are sure to be invalid and which it is obvious at a glance are invalid.

Jonathan

Hi,

And in addition to Jerry's suggestion:
comp.infosystems.www.authoring.stylesheets

which is also an active group dealing in, you guessed, stylesheets.

Regards,

Sure. There's also comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html - but both of
those are treated by frequent users as "specific". Michael asked for a
"general" group, and I'm sure once he starts posting in alt.html, we
could clue him in on other resources. FAIK, there could be a group for
phone sites. <g>
