What do you mean by "trying to view the php file in web page" or "view
any php file using browser"?

If you try to open the files via http (e.g. http://localhost/test.php)
and this does not work then the PHP handler is missing in the web server
configuration.

Why did you install such an old version? PHP4.x hasn't been supported
for years.

Did you install a web server also? Did you configure your web server to
support PHP?
