Is it possible to make the user IP that is shown to administrators a link to whois with the ip as a passed argument? as so...

http://www.nic.com/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?query=192.168.0.2

This would help out track spammers and general trouble. Can't tell you how many times I had to site wide ban and then get the port scans and wannabe dos attacks. lol

Picture the daffodil. And while you do that, I'll be over here going through your stuff.

Is this gonna always work(website url changes often etc...) and is it legal (does nic.com allow this)?

Other that then sounds like a good idea to me.

I'v been using it for the past year and the url hasn't changed. I guess the question is will it change? Is it Legal, I couldn't really answer that honestly. My understanding is that it's the same as filling in the form on their web site to check, but I'm no lawyer though. Very Happy

Reasonable anough, I'll add it in that case, seems like a useful tool to me, when you need to quickly track down the offender's ISP.
