There is already a thread in this forum on this issue, see http://fudforum.org/forum/index.php?t=rview&th=3721.

Main reason is, that the notification emails are send based on the language setting (that is theme) of the creator of the posting. I got for example an email stating
Quote:

Para ver o tópico vá a:
http://fudforum.org/forum/index.php?t=rview&goto=18015

for this very message, from which I can guess which theme rpedroso used when he created this posting.

The issue you mention (http://fudforum.org/forum/index.php?t=rview&th=3721.) is not my problem.

When a new topic is created I receive that strange email subject, but when I receive a reply notification the subject is ok.

Maybe a charset encoding problem ??? Confused

I presume your mail client shows " =?ISO-8859-15?B?Tm92byB083BpY28gbm8gZm9ydW0gR0EtVGVzdGVzIC0gRvNydW0gRSEgY2h hbWFkbyB0ZXN0ZSBu b3ZvIHTzcGljbyBieSByb290?=" instead of the subject or are you just looking at the e-mail headers?

I didn't know if you already receive it.

In post.php I put this lines around line 2387 in send_email function:

echo $subj . "<br>";
$subj = encode_subject($subj);
echo $subj . "<br>";

and the result sent to browser when I did a new topic was:

New topic in forum GA-Testes - Fórum E! called teste3 by root
=?ISO-8859-15?B?TmV3IHRvcGljIGluIGZvcnVtIEdBLVRlc3RlcyAtIEbzcnVtIEUhIGNhbGx lZCB0ZXN0ZTMgYnkg cm9vdA==?=

Because topic contains special characters it was encoded to ensure that it would be correctly displayed in the e-mail client. If your e-mail client fails to decode it correctly, it's a bug in the client.

I've tested the encoded subject line that you've shown in Kmail and Outlook and in both it was decoded correctly.

Yes, you right.
For now I just comment the line that encode the subject until the mail client doesn't do the work.
We all use the same client.

Thanks,
Ricardo
