I just installed fudforum 2.6.3 and trying to upload avatar for user. But I always got error:

Warning: unlink(c:/program files/apache group/apache/htdocs/goluck/FUDforum/tmp/) [function.unlink]: Permission denied in c:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs\goluck\fudforum2\theme\English\register.php on line 1769

My system:

1) windows 2000 professional
2) php 4.3.0
3) fud 2.6.3
4) I tried to delete .htaccess under fudforum/tmp dir but still no luck.

Pls help. Thanks.

Make sure that the webserver has write permissions to that directory.

I am using win 2000 pro with FAT32 system. that directory is accessible to anyone.

I have removed .htaccess ( deny from all ) from that directory and restarted apache 1.3.28. but it still got same error.

All it says :

"the specified url does not contain a valid image"

But it does.

Could you let me know what's wong ?

This looks like a windows specific problem. Please give me admin access to the forum (send info via private message) and I can try to figure out the cause and the solution to the problem.

I was unable to get admin access to the forum/site. So no resolution yet, all I can say is that I cannot replicate the problem.

Thank that helped!

But now I have run into another problem.

After uploading an avatar, which works fine now, I cannot update. This is what I get:

I seem to be having the EXACT same issue, you would think someone would fix it by 2005. Well anyway I would much appreciate a link to a patch that works, as this one is broken! Sad

The forum bug was fixed, what's left is a permissions issue on the system of the forum not having write access to a certain directory.

I get the same exact error as he did same situation (different paths of course)

its windows so there are no write permissions on the folder, and the folder does exist so whats the problem? Whats strange is in the admin area you can upload avatars, but if you try to change user avatars it won't upload period, i get the same error.

Problem found and resolved, it was actually a bug in Windows' implementation of tempnam() function.

Patch can be found here:

Completely new register.php.t at:
http://cvs.prohost.org/c/index.cgi/FUDforum/getfile/install/forum_data/src/ register.php.t?v=1.147

Once you've replaced the file, rebuild your theme.
