Hi,

When an url is entered in a message, it seems that if it's more than 60 characters long, the url displayed integrates a blank space (not in the href link but in the part which appears in the message).

Here is some examples of urls :

It's not very important in the forum since the links are ok, but when received in synchronized newsgroups the url is broken.

Could it be due (probably) to the parameter of word wrap in general settings ?

Béa

The space in the URL title is due to wrapping (setting who's value you can control). This is intended to prevent the page from being stretched by overly long strings.

Ilia... I turned off wrapping to fix this...

... Instead of adding a space at the line break, how about giving a visual that the link is too long to display -- something like:

http://fudforum.org/forum/index.php?t=post&reply_to=19500&quo...

When newbies (and some advanced users) copy and paste a link with a space in their browser and get an error, I'm often blitzed with customer service emails about a bad link.

Of course if the idiots would just click the link, it wouldn't matter, right Razz

While I think adding elipses (...) isn't the best solution, it's probably better than a space.

Any thoughts?

Wrapping it not just for URLs it is for any excessively long string of text. Adding special handling for URLs would involve some nasty hacks, I'd prefer to avoid.
