In my forum the user resources aren't automatically updated when I change a user's group: the forum permissions stay the same until the user logs out and back in again.
What could be the reason for this and how could I possibly fix this?

The changes made take affect right away as the group permissions cache data is rebuilt at that point. Unless the user's browser is caching the page any permission change would occur instantly.
