.... for some reason the footer will not appear on any forum pages when I'm viewing whilst logged out - Is there an obvious reason for this or have I made a cockup somewhere? Sad

When trying to read messages when logged out, I get the following error, but not when viewing the index page:

-----------
Fatal error: SQL Error has occurred, please contact the administrator of the forum and have them review the forum's SQL query log in /var/www/html/arsenalw/fudforum/index.php on line 58
-----------

Are the two things related?

Have a look at http://www.awimb.com/fudforum/ and you'll see what I mean.

Chris

Sounds like there is an error occuring causing the forum's execution to stop prematurely. Check the forum's error viewer control panel to see what is the actual SQL error that is occuring.

Ilia - Sorry for being stupid, but can you explain exactly what this means please? - Is there some sort of update I require? - What does 'CVS' stand for?

If I'm running 2.6.9 do I need to upgrade?

CVS = Concurrent Versions System. For more details, see http://www.gnu.org/software/cvs/

All FUDForum's code changes are listed at http://cvs.prohost.org/c/index.cgi/FUDforum/timeline

.... you have to bear in mind that I'm a total novice when it comes to this sort of thing.

Do I need to telnet to my server to do this or can it be done by ftp?

I looked at the updates page, and it seems you have to have some sort of login/password to access anything. Obviously I need to implement these updates in order to get my board working properly, but what I really need is a 'walk-through' of how to do it Sad

Hopefully somebody can assist.

Many thanks in advance, and sorry for being stupid Embarassed

Just download and run the upgrade script if you want to upgrade your forum.

.... This causing me problems.

Do I need the upgrade script for 2.6.9 or the upgrade 2.6.10 dated 19.1.05???? (will the 19.1.05 file upgrade my board to 2.6.10?).

Also, when downloading the zip versions, winzip refuses to extract the files to my local directory - I get the following error messages:

-------------

This is starting to drive me crazy now! Mad

Can you be more specific please???

... but with major problems.

Ran the upgrade script as per instructions, BUT:

1). It has over-written all of my modified CSS Mad (Can I just recover the old .css file from the backup?)

2). I now get an error and am unable to read any messages while logged in to the forum:

The old css was backed up, you can recover it from errors/.backup/ directory of the forum. This happened because the CSS file was updated to address some layout errors.

The query failure was tracked down and fixed.

Replace your tree.php.t with the one at this url:
http://cvs.prohost.org/c/index.cgi/FUDforum/getfile/install/forum_data/src/ tree.php.t?v=1.74

and rebuild the theme.

Thanks Ilia - The forum now works and the sql error is fixed Very Happy

I can't find the backed-up files though - I only have this directory with three files:

arsenalw/FUDforum_data/errors

UPGRADE_STATUS 0kb.
fud_errors 12kb.
sql_errors 687kb.

Can you give me the full path to the directory? - is it a hidden file that I'm not able to see with my ftp program?

the directory backup starts with a ., which makes it invisible to some ftp clients. Since you only need the forum.css.tmpl file, you can simply download it via the forum's file manager.

It seems to be invisible in the forum's file manager as well Ilia - the only files/dirs In can see are the three above, with the path: arsenalw/FUDforum_data/errors

Could you give me the full path? (or maybe the backup files were deleted somehow when the upgraqde script ran?

That directory definately does exist, the forum NEVER removes backups of templates.

You can make a simple webscript that will show you the full path to the file.

<?php
require "./GLOBALS.php";
echo
shell_exec("ls -lia {$DATA_DIR}/errors/.backup/forum.css.tmpl*");
?>

Ilia - I ran the script which gives the path as:

/var/www/html/arsenalw/FUDforum_data//errors/.backup/forum.css.tmpl_1106320 997

However, it does not appear my ftp program (what's with the 'double slash'?) and it doesn't appear in the forum file manager either Crying or Very Sad

The only way I could get the file was to make a link out of the url and download it that way, then reload to the correct place.

Thanks
Chris
