I was wondering if I could use FUD Forum to set up a special forum that would act as a file archive. This special forum would allow users to post their files, along with a description of what the files are. The only special requirement needed to make this work the way I want would be a way to disable the reply function.

Could this be done easily?

Sure... can be done VERY easily the file upload functionality is already there, as an admin you can specify how many files people can upload and what would the maximum size of the data uploaded be.

In FUDforum 2 (1.9X) you can use the group permission system to take away the "reply" permission and voila, you're done.

Great! Thanks.

I assume the "reply" and "quote" buttons will not be displayed?
However, will the "edit" button remain available to the user that made the original post?

Yeah that is correct.

The admin(s) will be able to post replies though, because they are the admin(s) Smile
