Problem: The forum has created hundreds of "users" for those who post only via the mailing lists. Forum users are sending Private Messages to those users who cannot read them. The mailing-list-only users receive Private Message Notifications by e-mail, but have no password by which they could turn off Private Messaging and/or the Notifications.
Root of Problem: Mailing-list-only users are created by the forum with no passwords, but with the "Allow Private Messages" option in profile settings enabled by default. There is a fix for this in cvs, but to my understanding, this would not fix the hundreds of those users already created.
Question: Could the database be manipulated so that the "Allow Private Messages" option is disabled for every user with no password?
