Hello,
One of my forum members created a new topic this morning, which appears as the latest topic on the forum in the main index, but when the list of threads is brought up for the forum his thread is not on the list. The post also does not show up in the "message navigator".

The post does appear in "today's messages", and also in the list of posts by the forum member. Has this happened to anyone else? Any idea what could have happened?

Can you run the consistency checker and see if the message re-appears?

Yes - there is an entry there that looks like the time the thread was posted:

1062: Duplicate entry '14' for key 1

The post info it shows is for a thread other than the one that wasn't displayed. Simultaneous posting problem?

If you want the full error message I can PM it to you; he was using the default theme.

No that's fine, I already tracked down that error earlier and fixed it. Simply wanted to confirm that this was the error.

I am currently running V2.7.1 and the problem of new thread not displaying in the topic list still occurs. I don't see the previous SQL errors though.



We are also getting the following error, intermittently, when posting - the replies are posted but the error pops up when FUD attempts to redisplay the thread:

A misconfiguration on the server caused a hiccup. Check the server logs, fix the problem, then try again. URL: (our site)/forum/index.php?t=post



Nothing on the host logs, but there are mysql errors in the FUD log "Server Version: Unknown"

This may be a problem with our hosting service; we are not too impressed with them so far and are looking for a new host.

It sounds like PHP is crashing, I noticed that the new version of the forum triggers a problem for Turck MMcache, which is a PHP optimizer causing it to die sometimes. This is now a forum problem, although it would appear that this patch prevents triggering of the bug:

Installed patch and recompiled themes. New threads still not showing up in the indexes -- but haven't hit a 500 error. Is it PHP that's causing the index problem?

The new topics appear after I've run the consistency checker. Then, when people post more new topics the latest one in the forums again don't appear (sometimes) until someone posts another topic there.

Using MySQL backend. We do have PostGre available; would you recommend converting?

addendum - links to the new threads do appear in User CP for subscribed topics, "Show all messages by (user)", and "last message on forum", and the poster of the thread is listed in the main index on the Home page. It's just in the forum indices that they do not appear.

I think it may be an issue with FUDforum code, try to replace your th_adm.inc.t with the one at the url below and rebuild the theme. See if the problem goes a way.

I put in 1.30, recompiled themes and ran a consistency check a few hours ago. Someone has just reported and I've verified another "disappeared" thread.

I’m having the same problem too. When I post a new topic, it not appears immediately. When I run consistency checker, the topic appears.

It occurs every day, and every day I must run the consistency checker to fix the problem.

My installation:
Mysql 4.1.11-standard-log
FUDForum 2.7.2
PHP 4.4.0

Are you sure you've upgraded to 2.7.2 properly, the problem has been resolved in 2.7.2 completely.
