Here's what happenned:

- Our phpbb forum was critically hacked earlier this week.
- I found a backup, got the old board running again and decided to move to FUDforum out of security concerns about phpbb, and because fud has been performing extremely at another board I'm running.
- Successfully installed fud, imported phpbb data, customized the template to include graphics and to our forum's requirement.
- Tested everything and it was going fine, so I re-opened the board.
- I locked the forum files, satisfied with my work.
- Went to the forum's homepage and noticed a graphic I wanted moved, so went back to the admin and unlocked the files.
- Went to edit the template and suddently:

500 errors from this point on this domain.

I notified my host and I'll see what he comes up with. I may ask him to drop by here if he wants to, or else I'll report his findings.

Unlocking files sets file permissions to 666 and directory permissions to 777 perhaps your server has some rule to prevent such files from being served?
