I have a problem with some moderators (and it seems it happened to some normal users) that sometimes get "You do not have appropriate permissions needed to access this topic" when clicking on "show what people are doing" for some forum users.

Of course, this can happen when not being logged in as all forums can't be viewed by guests. But in this case, it happens when being logged in, and for forums that can be accessed by normal users and of course moderators. Moreover, it seems the message is displayed for a normal user in particular, while it isn't for other users browsing a forum that can't be viewed by guests.

Are you using URL sessions?

Try to disable them and see if the problem goes away. I suspect the cause of the problem is a user who's URL session gets lost somehow and since there is no cookie effectively gets logged out from the system.
