can you implement this feature also in the main page of each forum (not only in the main index) so the user can specifically mark the messages of one forum as read? would be good

Another important feature I had with yabb was that the user could edit his last post in a thread until somebody else posted an answer.
At the moment when I give all registered users the permission to edit postings, they can edit also postings of other people and postings with answers. This feature should be only available for moderators.

Uhm... I am not sure why you did that? Normally FUDforum users can edit their posts already, the edit permission only control the user's ability to edit the posts of other users.
