hello,
I just miss with FUDForum the marked threaded treeview, like to found otherwise:
http://www.heise.de/tp/foren/go.shtml?forum_id=89679&list=1&hs=0&am p;e=all

or this (Phorum):
http://forum.net-hh.de/list.php?f=18

We decided to try FUDForum, since it seemed to be able to handle this structure of subthreads.

Is there a possibility for that kind of treeview like shown in the examples before?

thanx for helping

rainer

The forum supports threaded views for an entire forum or singular topics, although you'd need to tweak the template to look just like 2 sample URLs you've provided. Click on "tree view" buttons and you'll see what I mean.

Thanx for replying.

I already found the ability for some kind of treeview, but miss the visualization of the treestructure.

is there a setting prepared within the template for switching onto such kind of display?

otherwise implementing it seem to be complicated: diplaying the branches and maybe more then one overlapping subthreads (like we find it down within this example:
http://www.heise.de/tp/foren/go.shtml?forum_id=89679&list=1&hs=0&am p;e=all .

There is no setting to make FUDforum's tree view look exactly like phorum. You'd need to customize the template to make it look the same.

I worry about, this will be a programmers job:
setting the vertical and horizontal lines of the treeview the way, they really match.
And you need for this - maybe - for each branch following vertically in each messagerow an additional line to set, depending, if there has arrived a further branch / subthread.

It's just the question of improved visualization of the thread-structure that causes the wish to have it this way.

The heise.de-forum shows the preference of their users, who send many thousands of posts each day using this kind of treeview:

Like I said before, FUDforum supports threaded view. If you don't like the manner in which it presents information you can tweak the layout by editing threadt.tmpl and tree.tmpl template files.
