Hi

Quite often, when a user did not visit a forum for quite some time, the cookie expires and, when he receives a new reply notification, he can go to the forum thanks to the link provided in the notification message. But he's not logged in and any reply he makes will appear as "anonymous".

I understood the reasons why you cannot automatically log the user in in this situation, but what about a warning message that would appear at the top of the window (like when Firefox blocks a popup), and only when the user follows such a link (so it would not annoy "regular" anonymous users) ?

Something like "Warning : you are not logged in. Click here to log in" written in a box of special color. Or even a quick login box in this message, that would be even more easy.

I hope I made myself clear (not sure Smile )

Regards

Frédéric.

What about putting "your're not logged in" message on the message posting screen?

Yes that would be an easy solution. Just make sure the message easily gets noticed by the poster even if he's in a hurry...

I don't know whether it is important, but while reading your implementation of this feature in CVS something attract my attention:
Quote:

{IF: _uid}{TEMPLATE: loged_in_user}{ELSE}<tr class="RowStyleA"><td colspan="2" class="GenTextRed fb">{MSG: post_not_logged_in}</td></tr>{ENDI}

The other lines ended with {ENDIF}.

ENDIF is only used if there is no ELSE condition.

Thank you for your explanation. I just wondered whether the ENDI (without F) is correct.
