I moved my forum recently. I opted to install a fresh forum of the same version (most recent) as the old forum and then add the data files, sql, and modify the globals.php. So it seemed to go well and then I noticed an odd thing, which leads me to my question.
Is the $WWW_ROOT variable stored anywhere else other than the globals.php file, hard coded?
What happened after I modified the globals.php is that after rebuilding by running the forum consistency checker, all of the original domain variable from the new setup remained. In other words, I used an IP address to install the new forum then changed the globals to match the domain name after the domain had been transferred and propagated.
What I did for now was a search and replace of every IP address to the domain name to make sure it all worked. But it remains to be seen at this point if I rebuild the theme will it revert back to the IP address that may be hard coded into a sql table that I'm not aware of. I know I'll be rebuilding the theme some time in the future weather it be for an upgrade or theme modification.
Anything else that arose from the way I moved the forum was pretty expected and I feel it all went very smooth.
If you need server version info I'll add it upon request.
I look forward to your answer.
Thank you
