Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case..
I just upgraded to php 4.2.1 and the same problem persisted.
I did find out what it was, though.
php.ini: upload_max_filesize = 2M
Feel free to beat me over the head with a frozen wombat and delete this thread.
