I don't want guests/unregistered visitors to be able to see anything other than the register/login screen. I don't want guests to be able to see the boards, forums and view posts.

If a unregistered user goes to the site he/she will be prompted to login bofore they can proceed.

Take away anonymous user's permissions to see any forums and you pretty much got what you wanted.

I have been browsing the admin page for the area to set that up, and have read the mannual and still can't seem to find the settings.

what area should I be looking for?
