I've found in the db where the thread subjects, poster ids, and msg ids are located, but I can't find where the bodies of the threads are stored...where are these located? thanks!

gah! I just found that the messages are stored in actual files and not in a db and only accessible via the forum's 'nobody' account Sad

You can set the latest version of FUDforum to store its messages in the database rather than in files, via the admin settings. I don't think it's recommended though.

Also, there is a way to get PHP to run under an account rather than as 'nobody', but I haven't checked into the details yet. I just know that my old hosting company had us set up so that the forum-created files were owned by our cpanel account.

Any PHP script ran as the web server user (via your browser) will have access to the file.
You can also download it via the forum's admin file manager.
