Hi all,

can anyone tell me the simplest way to embed the latest posts from a particular forum into a web page written in php?

It's all about a common task of displaying a newsband inside a page.

I guess there are two choices on making that:
1. Use FUDForum API to select the posts and then format them to embed in the page.
2. Use a sort of RSS syndication with XML formatting.

I think the latter is a more natural way but could you please give me a sample to start from...

There are 2 ways, you can use FUDforum's RSS or you can use FUDforum FUDAPI (PHP api for getting forum information out of the database). Which ever is simpler is dependant purely on what do you feel more comfortable working with.

Good. Just that I thought of Wink

Then can anyone show me a simple working example of using a FUD's RSS feed in PHP?

I'd like to know how to get the rss feed working on my site with php too.

I was able to get one to show the headlines with CoffeeCup RSS News Flash which I found on download.com. It creates a script you paste onto your webpage.

Maybe a php tutorial or software program is available somewhere...

I'm just getting started, trying to figure it all out. It's pretty confusing when you don't have much programming knowledge.

I have a problem... the posts that are showing up on my rss feed are taken from all the posts on my forums. Some of the forums are private and I need to exclude them. Is there a way to do that? Can you somehow choose which forums will be included in the feed?

Thanks for any help.

In the RDF management set the user id to a blank field and then only the forums accessible to anonymous users will be accessible via the RSS feed.
